Luscious Cosmetics : Eye Pencils !

Hi Guys;

Today’s discussion revolves around some eye pencils from our very own Pakistani brand, Luscious Cosmetics.

They’ve two types of pencils. One is a kohl which is for your waterline called Cream Kohl Liner and the other one is to be used on upper/lower lids called Bold Intense Eyeliner.

L to R : Electric Blue, Amethyst, Moss Green

We’ll be talking about them separately.

Bold Intense Eyeliner :

So these eyeliners come in 8 different shades. And their key claim is “a smudge-proof and transfer-resistant formula for endless wear.

Let’s first look at the swatches;

* These pencils are not the softest in terms of their creaminess and application. They tug on the eyes.

* They smudge on me from the inner and outer corners of my lid which could be because I’ve oily eyelids.

* The shade range is amazing.

* These pencils are waterproof.

* Vegan and Paraben free.

* Costs Rs 515 each.

Out of all the shades “Amethyst” is the one that smudges the most and has the poorest quality.

Cream Kohl Liner :

These ones come in 6 different shades and claim to be creamy and pigmented.

Here are all the swatches;

Now as per their claims these pencils are very soft, creamy and pigmented but unfortunately they smudge horribly and even before smudging they start to fade and disappear from the waterline.

These are good for first 1-2 hours but not so much afterwards.

And each one of these cost around 550 pkr.

All in all I’d give them 3 stars out of 5 as these are neither the best nor the worst.

Have you tried these pencils? What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments down below, I’d love to hear from you. Xoxo!

Best Affordable Lipliners!

Hello Everyone;

Hope all of you are doing well.

Let me start by saying that a good lipliner is a game changer specially for people like me who have uneven lips.

So today I am here with some really cheap but amazing lipliners from Essence. They’re called Essence Longlasting Lipliners.

Here’s what they look like;

These come in several shades ranging from nudes to berries. I have 4 of them to share with you.

From Left to Right we’ve;

03: Yummy Berry:

This is a true fuscia shade.

05: Lovely Frappuccino:

A brown nude. This shade is a perfect nude for light to medium skin tones.

06: A Girl’s Dream:

This is a muted red suitable for a variety of skin tones.

10: Berry On My Mind:

Very similar to shade 03 (yummy berry) except this one has purple undertones whereas yummy berry has more pink in it.

Pros And Cons :

* Retractable pencils that do not require sharpening.

* The formula on these is creamy.

* Pigmented in one swipe.

* Do not smudge or flake.

* Soft and comfortable on the lips.

* Extremely affordable and easily available.

* Cruelty free.

The Cheapest Foundation Of 2017: Review !

In 2017 foundations were dropping like crazy. Almost every single brand launched foundations. But not everything creates a buzz like Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation did.

So this foundation comes in a glass bottle with 1 fl. oz (30ml) and has a range of 20 shades. It also claims to be picture perfect and was tested under 7 different lighting for this very purpose.

The shade I’ve swatched for you is called Bronze Beige which is described as medium warm.

Swatched. (Please excuse my extremely visible veins 😛)

Pros And Cons :

* This is the cheapest foundation of 2017. It costs only $5.99 (US Dollars)

* The foundation has medium to buildable coverage. If you’ve medium scarring then you’re covered.

* Blends really easily into the skin. I prefer using a flat top kabuki brush.

* The finish of this foundation is Satin and very much skin like but it needs to be set (specially if you’re oily) or it tends to move around from the T-zone.

* It stays put for 6 hours before it starts getting shiny from the nose and upper lip. (Without any setting spray or primer)

* Doesn’t look heavy or cakey.

* Really good for pictures. Doesn’t flash back.

* It smells like straight up paint, no joke, but it doesn’t linger once you’re done applying.

* Clings to dry patches.

* It does oxidise to a shade dark on me.

All in all, I really like this foundation specially for the price, you can’t go wrong. I’d give this one a solid 4 stars out of 5.

How many of you have tried this foundation? If yes, then I’d love to hear your thoughts as well. Share them in the comments below and I’ll see you soon 👍

Taking Care Of Your Makeup Brushes !

” With a good makeup brush, every woman can be an artist.”

But wait.. It’s not just about having good brushes, it’s also about taking proper care of them because no matter how cheap or expensive your brushes are; if you don’t look after them, they won’t last.

So, what is the proper way to look after and extend the life of a makeup brush? Let’s discuss.

Choosing the Right Cleanser:

Nothing fancy, as simple as that. The best cleanser in my opinion is the baby shampoo or your soap that you use to wash your face.

Just bear in mind that anything harsh or heavy-duty will dry out the bristles resulting in scratchy and frayed brushes. So use a mild soap or shampoo and your brushes are good to go.

How To Actually Clean:

Now that you have your cleanser ready, let’s get to actually cleaning them. You also need a brush mat to deep clean them. Below is a picture for reference.

The patterns on these mats make brush cleaning quick and easy.

Now wet your brush thoroughly and take a pea size amount of your favorite cleanser and start lathering it. Keep swirling the brush on mat for a few seconds and wash it with water. If there are any stains left then repeat the process or else let the brush dry.

Drying Your Brushes:

While your brushes are drying, make sure they’re not standing upright because the moisture will get into the glue and will cause shedding. So to extend the life of your brushes dry them overhanging the edge if possible or flat otherwise.

How Often You Should Wash Your Brushes?

Your face brushes (like foundation and concealer brush) must be washed at least once in three days, if they’re used daily or else it’ll cause you breakouts. Washing face brushes often is necessary because if not, it’ll also affect the performance of your brush.

For your eye brushes, washing them once a week is enough (if used daily) specially if you aren’t using a lot of dark colors.

Another important thing to keep in mind is that you should store your brushes inside your drawers so that they don’t catch dust otherwise it can irritate your skin and cause acne/breakouts.

So this is my general guideline of how you can maintain your brushes in good shape. How do you keep your brushes nice and fresh? Share your tips in the comments section and I’ll see you soon.

Take Care.

Essence: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Highlighter!

Each one of us loves a healthy glowing skin but not all of us are bestowed with one unfortunately. This is where highlighter comes in and saves the day.. Godsend!

So, Today we’re going to be talking about an Essence highlighter which is a part of their “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” collection. Here’s what it looks like;

First of all, The packaging. I really like the beautiful, sleek and transparent packaging. It looks girly and doesn’t feel cheap or low quality.

The amount of product you get in here is 0.21 oz (6 grams). And the shade is called “Lady’s Night”. The color of this highlight is icy pink.

Now on to the highlight. I don’t wanna say this people but honestly, it is very disappointing. I’ve been trying to make it work for over a month now but I’ve given up.

Why am I saying this? Because there’s hardly any pigmentation in this product. It just doesn’t wanna show up. It’s not even subtle after literally digging my brush (a denser one) in the pan. And if you try to build it up the only thing that shows up is tiny glitter specs. And who wants that? (At least I don’t). A highlight should make you glow and not look like you sprayed shimmer on your cheek bones. Here is a swatch;

And please bear in mind that this is a finger swatch.

Also, the texture of this is not smooth. The powder feels soft but doesn’t translate smoothly on the skin.

Seriously, I hate saying bad things about a product that is extremely affordable. It costed me around 13 Dirhams in U.A.E.

Would I recommend this to a friend? I’m sure you can tell that my answer is NO.

This is it for this post guys.

See you in the next one.

Till then, Take care. Xx

Maybelline: Great Lash Mascara !

They say Eyes are the windows to your soul. Well, they meant eyelashes 😉

At least I think eyelashes play a major role in beautifying your eyes and a good mascara is may be all you need.

The mascara we’re talking about is here for a long time and it is called Great Lash Mascara from Maybelline New York.

As Always; here’s what it looks like:

The tube contains 12.5ml (or 0.43 FL OZ) and the black one is called Blackest Black.

I’ve worn this mascara probably three times and I know I don’t like it at all and here’s why;

The very first thing that threw me off about this mascara is its wand. The wand is so small that if you’ve long lashes you’ll probably take forever to coat them. I do like the bristles on this, they’re very similar to the Blinc mascara, but that doesn’t save the wand.

Just for your reference, I’ll show you the side by side comparison of this mascara’s wand and a regular wand.

See the difference ??

The formula is light weight but it smudges all over the place. Also, it takes a long while to dry. You might not find it smearing if you have shorter lashes but for people with long lashes it’s a nightmare.

Since I’ve long lashes, it seem to make a difference but actually it doesn’t add much volume or length to the lashes. But, yes, it does make them look very black.

Honestly, this mascara failed me on so many points but the ones I shared are the major things people look in a mascara.

So, I’ll wrap this post here.  Tell me if you’ve used this one or not? Do you like it? or may be you just agree with what I think!! Leave me a comment down below, I’d love to hear from you.

Good Bye till my next post,

see you soon !!

ESSENCE: Soft Touch Mousse (Foundation)

Hello Everybody.

It’s been quite a while since I wrote anything but better late than never. So, here I am, with a new post about an Essence foundation which I’ve been trying lately.

The product comes in a thick glass jar which is really nice quality and travel friendly. The amount of product you get in here is 0.56oz or 16 grams. Here’s what it looks like;

essence mousse

The texture is that of a typical mousse foundation i.e. Cream-to-powder and comes in Four (4) shades which, to be honest, is very disappointing. If you look at the pan, it looks very rough and powdery. I’m in the shade 01. Here’s a swatch;

So, coming to the product itself. This foundation was not an immediate like for me. I had to use it in a few different ways to make it work. When I started using this foundation I immediately disliked it, primarily because I am not fond of mousse foundations. And also because it didn’t sit on my skin nicely (I was just using my fingers to blend it in) and gave the impression of a unblended product.

Then I decided to give it another shot. This time I tried it with a dampened makeup sponge and the foundation seems to like this method. What I do is take a flat makeup sponge and apply the product in swiping motion (not the bouncing you do with a typical beauty blender shaped sponge) and that is what works best with this one.

Now, this foundation has become my go-to in-a-rush because its easy, quick and takes almost no time to blend. It has medium coverage and no, you can not build this up. If you try to build, it starts to look unflattering. On my oily skin it stays around 4,5 hours before it starts to fade around my mouth. But you can totally take it up to 6,7 hours if used with a good primer.

The foundation is matte but I am not sure if it can survive without setting it with a powder because I, anyhow, like to powder all my foundations since I’ve oily skin.

  • Does not oxidize
  • Does not feel heavy on the skin
  • Very affordable

All in all, it’s a nice product and I’ll give this one 3.5 out of 5. I think girls with oily skin should give it a try.

So people this is it for today. Hope to see you soon.

Till then,

Take Care.. xo !!

Under Eye Bags : Remedies To Treat Puffiness

Hey There;

Today’s one is rather interesting for most of us because we all have been there and experienced those puffy and kind-of-ugly looking under eye bags.

So, if you’re a mom to an infant who couldn’t manage to sleep (for which I send you my word of appreciation 🙂 ) or someone random who is working at night or you just couldn’t get enough sleep last night; this one is for you !

These remedies are very simple ones that probably you might already know but let’s recall them anyway.

Number 1:

Take two not very thick potato slices and put them in the freezer for 2 minutes (so that they’re refreshingly cool) and place them on your entire eye focusing more on the under eye and leave it for around 10-15 minutes. You’ll see a difference once you remove the slices.

The same thing can also be done with tomato slices but the juice in the tomato tends to irritate my eyes. But if you don’t have such problem then tomatoes are more effective.

Number 2:

Another old but gold remedy is putting a refrigerated (preferably) metal spoon directly on the eye bags. This one I’ve tried a lot and trust me, for some weird reason, it just doesn’t cure those bags but also calms and refreshes the mind.

Number 3:

Another one I’ve tried for myself is to put a cotton pad drenched in milk and place it on your eyes for 10-15 minutes. Milk actually contains lactic acid which is an amazing ingredient to use for puffy under eyes. It also helps in lightening the dark circles.

Number 4:

This one is a little gross (for me personally) but because it does work, I’m gonna share it with you.

So this one includes used tea bags. What you need to do is to refrigerate them (obviously) after you’ve enjoyed your tea and then put them on your under eyes to help calm the puffiness. What I like to do is refrigerate them for a few hours so that they’re not dripping.

I’ve also heard about ground coffee beans that they aid the under eye bags but I’ve never tried it on myself so I’m not really sure if it works or not.

So, you people it’s all for now 🙂

Please feel free to share your comments below or if you’ve any questions.

See ya soon!

Essence Gel Eye Pencil – Waterproof !

Hello Everybody.

Hope everyone is enjoying the best of their health.

The kohl we’re gonna be talking about is fairly new named Essence Gel Eye Pencil Waterproof. It was launched few months back and I’ve been using it since then.

The pencil is a retractable one and comes in a few basic colors. The black one we’re talking about is called Black Blaze. This is how the pencil looks like;

The formula on this is velvety smooth and glides on very easily. Also, the color is jet black and very rich in pigment. Here’s a swatch;

The pencil claims to be smudge proof and long-lasting which is true to its word and stays put for straight 5-6 hours before it starts to fade on my waterline.

The only thing I dislike about this product is that doesn’t stand my occasionally runny eyes. The eye pencil is marketed as a waterproof formula but it actually isn’t. The days when my eyes get watery, the color will literally disappear from the inner third of my eyes within 2-3 hours.

Another major pro for this brand in general is that it is cruelty free which most of us appreciate.

Price wise it is very cheap as compared to other brands keeping the performance in mind. In Pakistan it costs Rs. 400 only and in dollars it retails for $2.99 only.

So this is it for today.

Shall come back soon,

Till then, Take Care! Xx!

DIY: No More Blackheads !

Hello my gorgeous people!

It’s DIY time !

I’ve been working for this post from quite some time because I wanted to share something that’s REALLY worth it.

And I’m very happy I’ve something I can swear by!

I’ve tested this DIY several times and it never failed to amaze me.

You need only 2 things that are probably already available at your place.

You’ll be needing 1tsp toothpaste (preferably a herbal one, I used Colgate that has camomile in it) and 1tsp baking soda (bicarbonate of soda). Mix both well and add very little water, only if needed. Keep the paste thick so that it stays nicely.

Before applying the paste, wet a facial towel under hot water, squeeze, and place it on your nose for several seconds to help open up the pores. This way the remedy will be more effective.

Now apply the mixture on to the affected areas and let it sit until dries completely. Then wash it with cold water 💦!

And see for yourself ❗

Because baking soda has antibacterial properties which helps remove the bacteria sitting inside your pores and hence, we see the amazing results. Also, it helps in balancing the pH of your skin.

But, keep in mind that excessive use of this remedy can cause your skin to breakout. I like to repeat this once in every two weeks.

Also, don’t forget to try this and share your experience down below. I’d love to hear 🙂

I’ll see you next time!
Take care! Xx
